Winter is Coming – Are You Ready?

The inevitable Winter snow probably isn't far off. If you have not already done so, now is the time to prepare for the season. In addition to making sure you have safety essentials in the house and in your car, it is also a good idea to check on your mailbox and any other property located in close proximity to the roadways.

When plow trucks operate to clear roads, they must maintain momentum to keep going in heavy and wet snow conditions. Those conditions often lead to snow being flung off the edge of the pavement and onto the adjoining lawns, driveways and sidewalks. Obviously heavy snow coming in contact with things like a mailbox can move or damage an ill-maintained mailbox. Please be sure you check your mailbox to make sure it is strong and secure enough to withstand snow being flung off the road surface by plowing operations.
