The Tax Collection Office is responsible for collecting all municipal property taxes and taxes that have been levied for the Local and Regional School Districts, Fire District and County.

Please be advised that on June 26th, the 3rd Quarter 2024 Estimated Tax Bill was mailed. This is a one (1) coupon bill.  The estimated bill has the same status as a regular tax bill.   The 3rd quarter amount is due on August 1st and may be paid without interest until August 12, 2024.  After August 12th interest is 8% on the first $1,500 and 18% over $1,500.  Once the 2024 tax rate is provided by the Burlington County Board of Taxation, a reconciled bill will be issued in September. The 4th Quarter amount will reflect any adjusted balances.

Pursuant to NJSA 54:4-64 delivery of tax bills, the validity of any tax or assessment, or the time at which it shall be payable, shall not be affected by the failure of a taxpayer to receive a tax bill, but every taxpayer is put on notice to ascertain from the proper official of the taxing district the amount which may be due for taxes or assessments against him or his property.

The Final/Preliminary tax bills are mailed once a year in July/August.  Chesterfield Township has a ten-day grace period.  Tax payments must be received by the tenth day of the month they are due or they will accrue interest as of the first of that month.  Postmarks will not be accepted.

If you require a receipt for your payment please send the entire bill and a stamped self addressed envelope.

Please do not postdate your checks.  We are unable to hold them as New Jersey statutes require payments to be deposited within 48 hours of receipt.

If you have new construction or have made alterations to your property, you may receive an added assessment bill in October.  The bill will be prorated from the date of completion.  This added assessment bill will be in addition to your regular bill.  Therefore, you may have two bills to pay in November, February and May.
